Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett recently met with Vladimir Putin in Moscow. He then phoned Volodymyr Zelensky and communicated Putin's demands. Putin allegedly was not happy that Zelensky asked the West for weapons to fight off Russian invasion. It is suggested that Bennett sought to protect Israel's interests by not taking a clear stand against the Russian invasion of Ukraine. 

What kind of man is Naftali Bennett? What does he believe in if he believes in anything? In an interview with an Israeli media, Nennett said,  'We believe in strengthening the Jewish identity of Israel. I'm Jewish. I believe that we have to embrace our heritage, our history, our - you know, our roots. I'm not ashamed of that. I'm right-wing, and I'm proud of that.' 

However, by not taking a stand over the Russian invasion, Bennett seems to be copying China and being 'shrewd'. 



Bennett's efforts in mediating with Putin and Ukraine government were met with scorn in Ukraine where an official mocked Bennett's efforts were no more than a mail box. 'We don't need a mailbox,' said the official. 'We have enough of those. If Bennett wants to be neutral and mediate, we would expect to see him appoint someone to work on it day and night and try to get a compromise.'


Bennett's efforts were opportunistic at best, without principle in the worst. Are politicians all like Bennett? Shrewd and calculating, protecting his own interest? No wonder the world loves Zelensky who has shown he stands for the principle and his belief.
