A Country Where Different Opinions Are Simply Silenced, Including Foreigners'

A well-known Chinese performer Jin Xing voiced support for Ukraine on her Weibo blog. Her blog was quickly censored, despite the fact that she has 13.579 million fans. When she posted a following blog to clarify that she had not deleted her own blog, her entire Weibo account was frozen and became inaccessible.

Jin Xing is a Chinese national with Korean descent. She was born in Shenyang in 1967. She has become known as a successful transgender dancer, performer and anchor. She is the president of Shanghai Jin Xing Dancing Group, a pioneer of modern dancing in China.

In 1986, she won the Best Peformance Award for the 2nd session of China's National Dancing competition. In 1995, she underwent a sex change surgery and became a woman. In 2006, she was awarded an honorary doctorate by Dartington College of Arts at Plymouth Unversity. In 2012, Jin Xing was awarded the Medal of Arts and Literature by the French Ministry of Culture along with a Knight Honor. In 2014, Jin Xing was awarded honorary doctorate of dancing art by the Scotland Institute of Royal Music.

Another well-kown artist, actress Ke Lan expressed her opinions in support of Ukranian people's fight against Putin's invasion forces.

Ke Lan wrote in her blog: 'Those guys who clap and cheer for war during peaceful times, will hide like a mouse in the deepest hole when war comes to their own door steps.'

Ke Lan's blog was swiftly censored. Some Chinese called Ke Lan's opinions ' went too far'. But some Chinese expressed sympathy toward Ke Lan, who has 2.87 million fans.

Ukrainian Consulate General in Shanghai China protested to the Foreign Affairs Offices of the Shanghai Municipality,  Jiangsu, An Hui, Zhejiang and Jiangxi Provincial Governments. The Ukrainian Consulate's protest complains about Chinese government policy that silenced posts by Ukrainians living in China. These posts by Ukrainians expressed their support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggressors. After publishing their posts, however, the Chinese police would knock on their doors or call them by phone, demanding the post writers take down their posts.

Ukrainian Consulate General requested Chinese governments to immediately stop such police actions, saying such acts 'are not helpful to maintain order or protect citizens. Such acts only inflicted unneccessary psychological harm on Ukrainian citizens under the background that the entire civilized world is condemning Russian invasion of Ukraine. '
