UN's World Envoy for Women and Girls Deleted Her Title

Peng Li Yuan is the UN's World Envoy for Women and Girls. She gave an acceptance speech at the ceremony in Paris.

In this role of World Envoy for Women and Girls, she has been speaking to advance girls' and women's education. The latest occasion was an interview with the Courier, a flagship magazine published by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in November, 2021.

Peng Liyuan, the wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, has called for sustained efforts to enable more women to receive a quality education that contributes to realizing the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals.

'We should be more determined to promote girls' and women's education, work to ensure that more women receive quality education and contribute to the realization of the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals,' Peng said.

She called on everyone around the world to work together and explore new ways and jointly meet challenges. 'As COVID-19 continues to spread around the world, it is our common wish that no girl should be left behind'.

Suddenly, on February 17, her title of the UN Envoy for Women and Girls was found to have been deleted from Peng Li Yuan's social media in China.

Not only was the poor woman in Xuzhou left behind, she had been abducted, sold as a slave to a poor man in a village that conspired to prevent her from escaping. When she fought against abusive men, her teeth were pulled out. She was raped and forced to give births to 8 children. She was discovered by an outsider being chained and locked around her neck living in an unheated shed wearing only thin clothes on a cold day in January, 2022.

The woman is likely to be Li Ying, a pretty girl who disappeared on her way home from school in Nan Chong City, Sichuan province. Many people believe she was abducted and sold to a family in Xuzhou. The woman's likely father, Li Da Zhong, was a former captain of the Chinese Armed Police who was stationed in Xin Jiang before his discharge. He made desperate efforts to find her daughter after she was found missing, but to no avail. Many people ask if an army officer's daughter can be abducted and sold like the woman in Xuzhou who can feel safe?
